DAY 27: 30 Day NO-BUY Challenge
Permission to Be Outrageous
On day 27 of our 30 Day NO-BUY Challenge we're stopping the fashion rules from stealing our joy, creativity, and growth. When we release the seriousness around style and embrace playfulness, we unlock a powerful mental health tool that helps us show up more confidently, authentically, and freely in our lives. Today we're giving ourselves permission to laugh, wear the outrageous thing, and use our closets as a daily practice for silencing negative voices and stepping into bigger versions of ourselves.

Intro
Hello, I'm Casey, your fashion bestie, and you are on day 27 of the 30 day No-Buy Challenge. And together, we're here sparking a fashion wellness revolution, where we are getting rid of all the style insecurities you've ever been taught, and rebuilding a healthier relationship with your closet and yourself.
Okay, today, I have a fun little inspiring go-get-'em message for you, but then I also am gonna run through the next four days. The last four days of the challenge, and what we're gonna do and how we're gonna go about it.
Don't Take Yourself So Serious
Okay. My message for you today. I'm asking you to please not take yourself so serious. All the time, but especially when it comes to style and fashion.
You tend to feel that fashion and style is serious because there's a lot of rules. We've always been taught. There's so many rules in style and fashion. And so whenever there's rules about something, it feels serious, right?
But understand, as I have told you before, that these rules came from trying to sell you things, not because there's actual rules. So let's erase all the rules, and let's not take ourselves so serious.
When we have rules in something that's supposed to be rooted in creativity, it diminishes our inspiration. It diminishes our creativity and it really diminishes our self-discovery, which helps us grow into bigger versions of ourselves. So understand that these rules that the industry is just trying to sell you things is diminishing your creativity and your self-discovery, which is diminishing your growth. Big deal there, right? Big deal.
Find the Humor, Fun, and Playfulness
I am asking that you find a little humor and a little fun and a little playfulness in everything that you do with style. I wear fur jackets because they kind of make me laugh. They're extravagant. They're fun. They're out there. People look at me weird. I don't care, but I don't take myself so serious. I bought my favorite crazy fur jacket because it made me laugh. Not because I said, oh, this is so serious and so stylish. I am going to buy it. It was because it made me laugh, and I felt so much joy in it.
So, I want to ask you, when you are playing in your closet, when you're going through this new wave of style that I am giving you, just don't take yourself so serious. Laugh with it. Wear something that is, you know, maybe you don't even know if you're feeling it that day. Maybe it's kind of like this is kind of funky. I have no idea. And just wear it.
And then don't take yourself so serious. If you're asking yourself so many questions in the mirror, like, does this fit right? Is this color look good on me? Does this show my arms that well? Does it show my waist? Okay? That's too many questions, too many questions. Just erase it all. Look at yourself and go, I don't know. Sometimes I go, I don't even know what I'm wearing today. But I'm just gonna go wear it. And just wear with confidence, wear with even the idea that you're just trying to be fun and light, and that it doesn't matter as much. Don't take yourself so serious. Have a little fun, fashion and style is not that serious.
So that is my tidbit for you today.
Fashion and Mental Health
Another thing that is one of my core messages is that this all, everything I'm teaching you can help with your mental health. Style and fashion is one of the most amazing tools for mental health if taught and used correctly. However, it can be one of the most destructive, if taught and used, poorly, and most of us have ever only been taught fashion and style poorly. But this, everything that I've taught you is changing that.
So understand that everything you're doing, how you're showing up for yourself, these mindset switches are all helping your mental health if you can grasp them, practice them, and run with them. And so if you need to listen to these things over and over that I'm teaching you, do it. Listen to them over and over. We all are gonna hear the negative voices. And so if you need my voice to keep getting you out of those negative voices, use it. I would love to be that voice for you in your head.
The Next 4 Days
So for the next 4 days, right now we are on pin creation. That is my Pinterest recreation. I hope that we are able to split up the joy for more joy in the last few days. I hope we're able to see some of the pieces in our closet with new eyes this last weekend.
And I don't know if I said this yet or not. This is a lot of formulas to do in these 14 days. Of course, it's a challenge. So I hope you were up for the challenge. However, when we end this challenge, don't think the formulas are over. Take one of these formulas and just focus on it for the whole week. And so you do an extended kind of study on each one of these formulas. And then do another one for the next week, and so on and so on and then start over. And then that is a way you can really use these throughout the next year, for the rest of your life, whatever you want.
Okay, so today we're working on pin creation. I hope you're able to do that. And the next few days, we're going to have, start with the item least worn, which we've gone over, and start with feeling words, which we've gone over, and then outrageous day.
What is Outrageous Day?
Okay, we did not go over outrageous day. I personally just randomly have outrageous days in my style. I just say today's gonna be an outrageous day, and I find something really outrageous in my closet, whether it's a bold pattern, whether it's, like, a fur jacket, like I talk about, whether it's some sparkle, whether it's some shoes that I'm just, like, uh, these are pretty bold. I am just gonna wear them today, and it's an outrageous day. I use these days, like I said, to not take myself so serious. These are days I put on my calendar that I make sure I do not take myself so serious in my style. That is what the outrageous day is gonna be.
What's Coming
Also, in the next 4 days, I am going to show up in voice memo again every day, and I'm going to run through how to apply all of this into the next year if you're doing a no-buy year or even if you're not. And then how, I mean, really to apply all this into the rest of your life. It's kind of a rinse or repeat thing.
Help Me Help You
Later today, I'm gonna send you another text message or email with a link to a form. If you got anything out of this challenge or you have gratitude for anything that I have provided for you, I would be so, so grateful if you could fill out this form and let me know what you enjoyed, how I can improve. I am gonna eventually make this a paid challenge, and I would just love your feedback on what that might look like and what that might mean. My ask is that you just click on the link. It's a really short form and help me out. I would be ever so grateful for you to help me out with this. It would just help me leave this information into the future.
All right, my friends, you can do it. I hope you have a wonderful day. I'm Casey, your fashion bestie, and I will be back tomorrow.
